This Week from Mitch
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I miss you all and hope that you are well. Having church has been a challenge the last 2 weeks! Snow and ice, combined with a broken HVAC system, forced us to use blankets to keep warm during services last Sunday. That said, knock on wood, Sunday's weather looks better, and the heater in the church is now fixed!
This weekend, leaders of the church from St. Martin’s Vestry, Finance Committee, and Foundation will gather in prayer and conversation as we look over the course of the year to come. We will do so mindful of our call to be a people of love and justice. We will do so in prayer and hope. I ask you, if you can, please say a prayer for your church. For our members and our leaders. Please pray that we might be faithful to the call of Jesus in our community, nation, and world.
Our gospel reading this week reminds us that no one lights a lamp and then puts that lamp under a basket. Instead, they put it on a lampstand so that the whole room may be lit. I believe the call to welcome all people in the name of Christ is one of the places of light that we celebrate and share here. May we share that welcome now and always. I pray that through us, the light of Jesus will shine.
Peace,
Mitch
