Music Ministries

A Rich Musical History

St. Martin’s has a long history of music ministry. We have opportunities for all ages, regardless of age, ability, or previous musical experience. We believe all of God’s children have the ability to discover, develop, and share in the dynamic ministry of music. If you’re interested in participating in any of our music ministries or have questions, please email Ronnie Wise.

Adult Choir

The adult choir has a varied membership, including high school students, changed-voice boys, college students, and adults with a variety of musical backgrounds. The choir sings primarily for the 10:30 AM service as well as Evensong, Christmas Lessons and Carols, and other services as scheduled throughout the year. We rehearse on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 7:30 PM and 9:30 AM on Sunday morning. There is no formal audition, but a meeting with the director is requested for voice placement.

Treble Choristers (RSCM Choir)

Also known as the RSCM Choir (Royal School of Church Music), this choir is open to boys and girls in third through eighth grades. We rehearse from 5:30 – 6 PM in a separate rehearsal, then from 6 – 6:30 PM with the adult choir. Trebles Choristers sing at least one Sunday morning each month. The Trebles are leaders in all aspects of worship, including Youth Sunday each May, Choral Evensong, Christmas Lessons and Carols, and the 5 PM Christmas Eve Service. Free piano lessons are available (scheduled separately from rehearsal) for any trebles who may be interested. No audition is required.

Training Choir

Open to Kindergarten through Second Grade, singers have the opportunity to learn basic principles of music such as rhythm, dynamics, and note naming. We rehearse on Wednesday from 5:00-5:30 PM. Training Choir sings a prelude at the 10:30 AM service every six weeks, or as schedules allow. No audition is required.

Requiem Choir

This choir is for anyone who can’t make a commitment to Adult Choir but may be available to assist with funerals. We warm up 45 minutes before each funeral and lead the hymns. No audition is required.
